July 25 looks like the date the Bold will hit Rogers. It’s just a week after the last release party, so everything is seeming to line up. AT&T, where art thou?

Looking for the Bold on T-Mobile after AT&T’s exclusive period expires? Don’t get your hopes up. It looks like the Javelin will hit T-Mo. This, by all appearances, is the EDGE version of the Bold, which would fit with T-Mo, which still doesn’t have a nationwide 3G network.

Another iDEN BlackBerry? We haven’t seen one in a while, but it looks like RIM is working on a new one for Nextel.

A couple of Google updates for BlackBerry: enhanced search results. This looks like a response to Yahoo!’s oneSearch. Also, voice controls for Google Maps. Not bad.

RIM released their financial data for the first quarter of 2008. Not bad, not bad at all. They’re up 2.3 million subscribers, 60 percent of whom were of the consumer type. The business/consumer split is now about 60/40.

The long-hyped Viigo Tango is now available in a public beta. They’ve fixed some of the lag issues that I noticed in the WES build. It’s simply a stupendous feed reader, and every bit deserving of the Viigo name.

Visual voicemail on the Thunder? Just one more way it’s going to look like the iPhone.

The BB Facebook app finally dropped the “is”. It’s amazing how much time and how many words we’ve spent on a freakin’ linking verb.

Rogers, meet the WiFi Pearl. It’ll go great with their WiFi home calling plan.

I always appreciate a story where RIM triumphs iPhone. Not that I consider them bitter rivals. I’ll always maintain that as it currently stands, they each have their place in the market. That could change in the next few months, of course. But for now, RIM has gained market share on the iPhone.

Just a ton to talk about from WES. I talk about the consumer product of the show, Unify4Life, which I discussed a bit in WES Podcast 2. If you’re looking for away to get all of your home electronics working on one system, this might be it.

I talked about how Viigo, voted our best BlackBerry RSS reader, really helped me get around the conference with ease. It told me what was going on, where, and when. In fact, I didn’t open up the program guide once. It was all on my Viigo.

While the BlackBerry Bold was the talk of the show, us uber-geeks wound up focusing on yet another device. Yes, I’m talking about the BlackBerry Thunder, a story that Boy Genius Report broke during the week. It looks pretty cool. And as I mention, if anyone can kill the iPhone, it’s RIM.

Finally, I discuss some smartphone stats and what they mean for the future of mobile applications. It’s not easy to figure out exactly what’s going on right now, but it appears that the market is ripe for growth.

You had to figure that the week the Curve was released on Sprint and Verizon, a thousand rumors would precede it. You can find the rumors here.

We’re going to see two new BlackBerry devices at some point: The Javelin and the Niagra. The Javelin is, in essence, the EDGE version of the 9000 (boooo). It does have a 3.2 MP camera, so that’s an upgrade. The Niagra is supposedly the CDMA version, without WiFi (boooo), but with the spec sheet saying OS 4.7. So that’s something to think about.

Couple of app upgrades: TwitterBerry 0.6 and the Facebook app. Except the “is” still resides in the status message. Lame.
